I was born in Bogotá, Colombia in 1978. Growing up in Colombia during the 80s and 90s shaped my understanding of reality and most definitely, it defined my experience as a child and teenager. Through installation, sound and painting, my work explores the contradictory nature of memory and trauma, and the complexities in the construction of identity.
I currently live and work in Boston, MA. I hold a BFA from the Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá), and an MFA from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. My work has been part of individual and group shows in Bogotá, Caracas, Miami, New York and Boston. Back in Colombia, I was an Art Instructor for elementary school in Bogotá. Here, I worked as a Teaching Assistant at the SMFA for the “Death of Painting” class between 2009 and 2011. I’m currently a Teaching Fellow at the Museum School.
